XM Review: IEA said oversupply continues, WTI falls below $60
The explanation given by the IEA for the slowdown in crude oil demand is the severe macroeconomic situation and the shift to electrification in transportation. The reason for the increase in crude oil supply is that OPEC+ production increased by 1 million barrels per day from the United States, Brazil, Canada, Guyana and Argentina. The increase is also very significant, with the cumulative increase ranging from 1.2 million to 1.6 million barrels per day.

Since April this year, OPEC+ began to reduce its share of production cuts and continued to restore production, international oil prices have been relatively weak. The lowest price during the period hit $54, a new low in more than four years. Although the market has rebounded significantly in several rounds, the quotation of U.S. crude oil has fluctuated around $60 most of the time.

From an inventory perspective, the latest value of EIA crude oil inventories is 22.704 million barrels, which is at a relatively high level this year. In the short to medium term, high inventories will also inhibit the ability of U.S. crude oil to rise. However, in the long termJudging from the above, the inventory level of more than 20 million barrels is still at a lower level than the peak in 2017 (nearly 70 million barrels). Once the supply and demand situation reverses, there is still a chance for U.S. crude oil prices to experience a bull market.

On Monday, OPEC+ released the October crude oil market energy report. The views are generally similar to the IEA report (but the data are slightly different). The monthly report mentioned: The main driving force for the increase in global oil supply xmspot.comes from the United States, Brazil, Canada and Argentina. This is consistent with the analysis of the reasons for supply growth mentioned by the IEA.
